Essential oil:
Eucaluptus, Lemon -
Rosewood -
Thyme -

I guess so. But it only applies to some (lucky) people, not all. If the virus is really air borne and the outbreak gets out of control, two things may happen: people may all die or some of them may develop resistance gradually, they survive and the plague will gradually end.
A couple of years ago (I don’t remember the exact year); there was an influenza outbreak in America. The new strain of virus caused hundreds of people sick and killed some of them. Then later, people gradually developed resistance against the disease and the influenza faded away. I think it is the same thing that it is happening here, only that the pneumonia virus is more deadly.
Two things are for sure: nature will take its course and evolution is real.

Simple preventive measures for SARS]
Information from a friend. For your reference.
The fact of the mysterious pneumonia has been widely spread in HK drives me to do a literature review on the suspected cause (i.e.coronavirus) of the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). As a
biomedical researcher, let me show you my concern and make the
following suggestions.
The basic mechanism of viral attack is that the viruses replicate themself using the host's (in this case is "our") DNA genetic replication system. By doing this, our body couldn't function well due to the massive viral replication. Supposingly, the immune cells in our body will fight off the infected viruses quickly. However, the viruses are so smart that they could be able to produce some chemical substances to cause our immune cells to die. Besides, this coronavirus is a new kind of virus which belongs to a mutated strain and our body cannot recognize it. No antibiotics have been proved to be 100% effective in treating viral infection so far. The only effective way to
get rid of it is by ourselves. It likes a prolonged battle between the viruses and our immune response. In fact, viruses couldn't kill all the immune cells in a health individual. The stronger the immune function you have, the less the viral injury you get. Therefore, the degree of
sickness after infection and the rate of recovery mainly depends on how strong your immune function is.
You cannot avoid the infection unless you avoid from those infected individuals/area. But, you can try your best to boost up your immune function by several regimes. Make sure you are "extremely healthy" at least during this critical period. Stronger immune function could keep the viral damage minimal even you were so unluckily being infected.
Also, stronger immune function delays the onset of any detrimental
effects from the viral infection. Scientists are now working on
tracking the treatment and so make sure you are still surviving until an effective treatment occurs. The following suggestions aim to strengthen your immune function within a short period of time.
1) Antioxidant nutraceuticals: Antioxidants are chemicals found in foods which exert a great value in strengthening our immune system.
Boost up your immune function by taking a cocktail of antioxidant
supplements.
*Vitamin E 1000 IU per day. Alpha-tocopherol is the biological active form of vitamin E. There are two forms of it: d-tocopherol and dl-tocopherol. d- is the natural form and dl- is the synthetic form.
Try to get the d- form because it is absorbed faster in our body. *Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 1000 milligram (mg) daily. Instead of
taking supplement, you can take 2 pieces of citrus fruits (e.g. orange) a day to get the vitamin C.
*Beta-carotene, not more than 10000 IU daily
*Selenium, 200 microgram daily
*Zinc, not more than 500 milligram (mg) daily
*Lipoic acid, 50 mg daily
*Glutathione, 50 mg daily
No any adverse effects have been reported from the above suggested
supplementation dose.
2)
Let green tea to be your daily beverage because it contains
tremendous amount of antioxidant flavonoid, catechins.
Eat more tomatoes, broccoli or fruits and vegetables in red and dark green color. They carry a huge amount of antioxidant carotenoids, lycopene and carotene.
3) No intense physical activities during this critical period! It has been shown that intense exercise will suppress your immune function (related to the upper respiratory infection) even several days following your workout.Instead of intense exercise, light-to-moderate workout helps if you have been training regularly.
4) Make sure you get enough carbohydrate foods (e.g. rice, food concentrated in starch... etc) because carbohydrate is the primary food for immune cells . Do some Gatorade or Pocari if needed since they are both good sources of carbohydrate.
5) Make sure you get enough sleep and don't make yourself so stressful!
Anxiety, depression, and tried will influence your body's stress
hormones (e.g. catecholamine and glucocorticoids) and so suppress your immune status.
6) Mouth-mask helps despite it is not 100% effective. But it can still decrease the chance from infection.
All the above information are supported by peer-reviewed biomedical literatures, that means they are credible and reliable! God bless and I really hope that none of you will get infected and I will pray for all
of you in every moment!
Good luck and take extremely care.

AND NOW THE GOOD NEWS
By Nury Vittachi
There is a dangerous virus spreading through Hong Kong. It is NOT atypical pneumonia. It is panic.
All outbreaks of any high-profile pathogen or disease (cf the UK's Mad Cow disease) have two major effects. A tiny proportion of people are hit by the disease itself. A large number of people, organizations and entire industry sectors are hit by the panic that accompanies it.
Yes, you should be careful and take all precautions as advised by
your medical advisor, but no, you don't have to panic and flee Hong Kong.
1. You don't have to stay at home. At the time of writing (first week of April, 2003), more than 99.999% of people in Hong Kong are completely free of the SARS virus. 2. An increase in numbers doesn't mean people in every apartment block have it. The virus's growth pattern shows a tendency to remain tightly clustered - for example in the Prince of Wales Hospital and Amoy
Gardens.
3. Ninety-nine people a day die of flu every day in the United States alone. Of these 99, about 30 die of acute respiratory problems. In Hong Kong, 16 people have died over a month.
4. In any large city of this size, there are hundreds of pneumonia sufferers at any time, of which several dozen have some form of atypical pneumonia.
5. Yes, the virus does mutate. But this doesn't necessarily mean it continually gets more virulent. Scientists note that as SARS spreads, it is significantly weakening from carrier to carrier.
6. The media may call it a killer virus, but the survival rate among
those hit in these clusters is 96%.
7. Yes, we all care about our children, but very few kids get it - careful examination of lists confirms that victims tend to be elderly people with a direct physical link to the clusters.
8. Contaminated places get clean by themselves. The virus dies without a carrier. Some scientists estimate its life as three hours, others say a little longer, but all agree it cannot hibernate. In other words, you
can even check into the Metropole Hotel floor 9 without fear.
9. The virus is believed to die when the air temperature reaches 27 degrees C. One hot Hong Kong day could fry all traces of it on exposed surfaces.
10. You can keep your air conditioner on in the office. Ward 8B in the Prince of Wales Hospital shares an air conditioning system with the infected Ward 8A. But there was not a single infection in 8B.
11. Many people assume the "growth model" of the virus will follow sci-fi movie scenarios. Evidence suggests it is more likely to follow the Guangzhou experience, where it spread for a few weeks and then started to contract.
12. The flood of panicky emails from a variety of people, including doctors who should know better, is not helpful. One email doing the rounds is instructing people not to exercise, for example. Panic creates muddleheadedness. Consider the facts above. Hong Kong is our home. Stay calm and stay healthy!

"death is just another phase of life", 希望真的可以平視生死.

Dear Friends,
Some useful information. However, I would like to point out that Mr. Ho Siu Wai
(of Hospital Authority) was confirmed to have the SARS not because he touched
his mask, because he washed his hands throughly when he took his mask off, but
because he carried the diseases at the soles of his feet
and took them home. Dr. Ko Wing Man of the Hospital Authority lives next door to
me. He has taught me to put a towel outside your door step, drenched in bleach.
When you go home, step on the towel and ensure that the soles of your shoes are
cleaned before entering your home. Pass this on to your friends and family. Take
care and stay healthy!!
